Genesis

His Holiness Sri Sankaracharya Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Mahaswamigal of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam had the vision of reviving the Gatikasthana (traditional University of Kanchi as Nalanda in the North) through modern temples of learning.

His Holiness Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal, His Illustrious Successor fulfilled the vision of His Guru, by establishing SRI SANKARA ARTS AND SCIENCE COLLEGE in 1991, in addition to a number of Patasalas (Vedic Schools), to provide quality higher education to the rural folk and to promote among the youth, the highest and loftiest ideals that constitute the essence of our Culture..

Our Patron

The college is named after Sri Adi Sankara Bagavadpadcharya,who established Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam in Kanchipuram and adorned it as the First Acharya. "Sankara" means the one who bestows happiness, peace and Eternal Knowledge. So, the name invites the beneficiaries of this Institution to derive and to work for peace and happiness through the acquisition of knowledge.

The Founder of the College, His Holiness Sankaracharya Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamiji, is the successor of the illustrious Saint Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Swamiji of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam. He travelled nook and corner of the country, propagating peace, tolerance, national integration and Sanadhana Dharma.

He has started many schools & college and Veda Patasalas all over the Country for the benefits of downtrodden people. Swamiji's services to the society stretches from spreading Vedas and Agama, renovation and maintenance of many temples all over the Country, poor feeding, cultural training classes, awareness programmes for women, Hindu Mission Hospitals, Sankara Eye Hospitals, Child Trust Hospitals, home for the aged and disabled, Sankara Schools, SCSVMV University are some of His laudable services.

Sri Sankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Swamiji, the successor of Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamiji, follows the foot-steps of His Guru in motivating the youth towards the path of solidarity and integration. He is instrumental in conducting Cultural Training Classes to the youth all over the country. Devotees of all walks of life-acade micians, scientists, IAS/IPS officers, Industrialists, Charted Accountants, artists and social service organizations are Invited by Him for giving lectures and presentations to Shape the future of India in the College.
